The general objective of the capacity building programme in support of the AFUR is to contribute to the development of effective power sector regulation in Africa through facilitating the harmonisation of regulatory policies, as well as an exchange of information and experiences amongst regulators. The project consists of providing technical assistance and capacity building to the AFUR Secretariat and to its members, through two studies and several training sessions and workshops. The subjects will include power market structures and models, electricity pricing and tariffs, regulation economics, public-private partnerships and regulatory aspects concerning quality of service.
