South-south cooperation represents both an important political approach in the context of the dialogue with these countries and an implementation mode capable of maximising results. Since 2013, the debate within the Commission itself has focused on the need to decide which type of cooperation should be developed with the so-called “graduate countries”, i.e. those that no longer receive bilateral cooperation. Within this context AETS carried out a stocktaking exercise on existing South-South cooperation operation within EU development cooperation, and proposed priorities areas for future South-South Cooperation activities.
