Given the situation faced by Jordan, in 2013 the European Neighbourhood Instrument funded an action of support to the solid waste management services in Jordanian communities hosting Syrian refugees. This action aimed to improve the solid waste management services in the governates of Irbid and Mafraq by providing robust waste management systems that were not only efficient, but environmentally and socially sound. The project was launched as was implemented in the governates of Irbid and Mafraq throughout the period from 2013 to 2018. Since its completion, the abovementioned action is to be evaluated, in line with the priority of the European Commission to systematically and timely evaluate its programmes and activities. As such, AETS has been awarded the request for services “Final Evaluation of the EU support to Solid Waste Management in Jordan”, which will focus on assessing the achievement, the quality and the results of undertaken actions. AETS will provide an independent evaluation of the undertaken action, focusing on the results obtained measured against the expected objectives. In addition, the evaluation should also take into account the key lessons learned and provide recommendations in order to improve similar actions.
