Under the AETS-led EU Public Diplomacy in India project, AETS worked together with the EU Delegation in New Delhi to organise an event on 02nd of August 2019 to celebrate the success of, and bid farewell to, Indian students who were selected to go to Europe under the Erasmus+ programme. The event provided the scholars with an opportunity to meet senior representatives from the EU Delegation, as well as EU Member States, alumni of EU programmes and other students who have been selected for the programme. The successful applicants also received practical advice and information geared at helping them during their education exchange in Europe.
An orientation session was organised for the Erasmus+ scholars at the EU Delegation premises and welcomed 60 students. The orientation session heard speeches and presentations by the EU Ambassador to India, Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski, as well as the EU Delegation, EU Member States missions officials and EU alumni, all of whom shared valuable advice and personal insights to help prepare the scholars for their upcoming journey to Europe for higher education. Outgoing scholars also had a chance to have one-on-one encounters with the representatives of the countries they would be hosted by.
The scholars were then taken to the EU Residence where the Ambassador hosted a reception in their honour. Additional guests included high level representatives from the Indian academic sector and representatives from EU Member States. The event received positive media coverage, including from The Times of India, on the basis of a press release drafted and issued by AETS.
