This project is part of the BETTER TRAINING FOR SAFER FOOD Programme. In the framework of this programme AETS has been awarded the management of the " Monitoring and control of zoonoses, zoonotic agents and related anti-microbial resistance” project, to organise training activities (eight 3-days sessions) for officers belonging to competent authorities of EU Member States, Candidate Countries and European Neighboring Policy countries. The project activities included two different training courses: 1. Monitoring and control of zoonoses 2. Prevention and monitoring of AMR in the food chain The main topics presented in course one were: • Surveillance and control of Salmonella in poultry and pig population • Assessment of the public health impact of Salmonella in pigs and poultry • Risk management options, including guides for good hygiene practices • Biosecurity measures • Control of Campylobacter along the poultry meat production chain The main topics presented in course two are: • Occurrence factors of AMR in zoonotic and other bacteria with public health importance • Relevant international initiatives in the field of AMR • EU rules for monitoring and reporting of AMR • EU rules for monitoring the use of antimicrobials • Good practices for promoting the prudent use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine
