The Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) offers assistance to countries engaged in the accession process to the European Union (EU) with the aim achieve the required levels of economic and social development, well-functioning institutions and cross-border cooperation. The current project relates to the later objective (cross-border cooperation) by supporting Turkey in achieving an integrated border management system in line with EU standards. The objective of this contract was to support the EU Delegation by providing ex-ante approval of service and supply tender dossiers of the contract “Socioeconomic development through demining an increasing the Border Surveillance Capacity at the Eastern Borders of Turkey”. Within this framework, AETS experts have prepared a report including their remarks on specific issues and lessons learned and their complience with international requirements. In addition during the tender submission period the experts have checked the clarifications and assisted the Delegation in understanding the bidding companies’ questions precisely and in verifying the draft clarifications prepared by the CFCU.
