SWITCH-Asia programme is to promote Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Asia. To achieve this objective, the Programme works simultaneously on the ground, with producers and consumers, and at the level of policy-making through supporting for formulation and implementation of SCP-related policies. It started in 2007 with a budget of €152 million for the period 2007-2013. From both environmental and industrial development point of view, it is important that the growing Asian economies develop a sustainable consumption and production (SCP). SCP offers an integrated approach to achieve overall development plans, reduce economic, social and environmental costs, strengthen economic competitiveness and reduce poverty. The objective of the SWITCH-Asia Programme covered by this Call for Proposals was to contribute to both economic prosperity and poverty reduction in Asia, as well as to the mitigation of climate change, through promoting sustainable growth. AETS' experts provided services to the European Commission linked to the administrative (including check the administrative compliance and eligibility of proposals, data processing, ranking, and statistical follow-up) and the qualitative parts (technical and financial assessment of Concept Notes and Full Applications) of the evaluation procedure. The Programme aimed at identifying and scaling up successful SCP practices in Asia in order to induce a systematic change in consumption and production patterns. Moreover, projects were expected to work closely with the SWITCH-Asia Policy Support Component in order to maximise policy impact and sustainability. The Programme aimed to engage particularly business intermediaries and SMEs' business partners in the project activities.
