The African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) has been established as a voluntary forum with the aim to promote effective utility regulation in support of the development of African infrastructures. AFUR was initiated by more than 30 founding African utility regulators in November 2002 in Pretoria, South Africa. AETS is a consortium leader of new TA for AFUR. The purposes of this new project are as follows: ? To strengthen the capacity of AFUR Secretariat to foster collaboration with sub-regional, African and international fora on energy sector regulation and with African Infrastructure Development Steering Committees; ? To strengthen the capacity of AFUR Energy Sub-Committee in facilitating the exchange of information and experiences amongst African electricity regulators and in establishing common guidelines; ? To strengthen the capacity of AFUR members Thus demonstrating the added value provided by AFUR to its members.
