Continuing with the efforts to reach out to Indian students and the general academic community, under the project EU Public Diplomacy in India, AETS organised an “EU Day” in the south Indian city of Chennai, at one of the oldest universities in India, the Madras University. The event took place on 05 July 2019 and provided the EU Ambassador, Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski, an opportunity to address the students, and the academic community at large, and discuss issues related to the EU-India relations with them. During her talk and panel discussion, the head of the Political Section at the EU Delegation focused on the foreign and security policy of the EU. The AETS team of experts gave presentations on the basic structure of the EU and on higher education opportunities within the EU and specifically, the Erasmus+ programme. A quiz took place at the end of the event and received enthusiastic participation.

AETS also organised a meeting for the EU Ambassador to India regarding an EU-funded project related to promoting electric rickshaws in the city. The Ambassador addressed a press conference where he elaborated on various ongoing issues and developments in EU-India relations, which received large positive media coverage from the local press. The project also organised his address to the closing ceremony of the ongoing EU Film Festival and a visit to the National Institute of Wind Energy where he discussed the ongoing EU-funded cooperation project related to offshore wind energy development.
