Arabic Gum is a significant source of income for local populations in Chad. The sector faces several constraints despite a strong growth potential. The European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD) are key actors in supporting the arabic gum sector in Chad. The overall objective of this project was to support regional industry stakeholders to produce and to take ownership of the Arabic Gum interprofessional conservation strategy. Specific objectives of each study or outcomes: • Contribute to the improvement of intra-sectoral dialogue actors of the arabic gum industry. • Encourage players to solve problems related to the gum quality, gum trees preservation, improvement of the access to finance in the sector. • Develop business opportunities for national, international and African world. • Establish a system to monitor the evolution of gum trees and price of firewood.
