This project was carried out under the aegis of the Programme “Better Training for Safer Food” financed by the Directorate General for Health and Consumers (DG SANTE) of the European Commission. The main goal of the training course was to increase the knowledge of official staff involved in designing inspection programmes of PAE, of official staff directly involved in inspections of PAE, and of trainers of professional users of plant protection products according to the requirements under Directive 2009/128/EC. The aim was to provide for practical, up-to-date and harmonised knowledge regarding PAE and their inspection, including the application of relevant ISO standards. The training course improves the harmonisation of inspection practices between MS and support the recognition of certificates systems. Workshops in specialised institutes were organised in Barcelona (Spain), Torino (Italy), Braunschweig (Germany), Montpellier (France) and Wageningen (Netherlands). A total of 230 participants from Member States, Candidates and EFTA countries are being trained.
