Funding to the Mauritius Environment Aid Program amounting to 125 millions Euros, was authorized by the Board of Directors of the AFD on November 5, 2009. It aims to support the implementation of the project "Maurice Ile Durable" (MID), announced in mid-2008 by the Mauritian authorities. The MID project is intented to ensure the synergy and coordination of various sectoral policies and to promote a better consideration of environmental issues with these policies. Financial aid from the AFD, in the form of global budgetary support, will be sustained throught succesive commitments in relation to the government's pursuit of concrete and measurable objectives outlines within a roadmap. In order to support this funding, targeted technical support was provided by the AFD on themes identified and prioritised within the roadmap. Thus, the AFD mobilised external technical assistance to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of the Environment Aid Program. As such, the consultant was mandated to provide:Quaterly supervision missions to Mauritius as well as specific technical advisory services, at distance.
