The West African Power Pool (WAPP) encompasses nineteen (19) power generation, transmission, distribution and marketing companies in West Africa. The vision of WAPP Organization is to assure the citizens of ECOWAS Member States a stable and reliable electricity supply at affordable costs. In order to reach its objective, the WAPP Secretariat with the assistance of USAID aimed to develop the human resource capacity necessary to integrate the respective electricity systems of ECOWAS Member States and identified the need to pay much attention to governance of the electricity sub-sector as a key component. Two training sessions were foreseen and AETS and PPA Energy were contracted to prepare modules related to power sector governance: (1) Policy and Planning, (2) The regulatory process, (3) The legislative process, (4) Codes, (5) Standards and Best Practices, (6) The role of the civil society and Governments. Were trained Executive Board Members (Session 1) as well as Energy Minitries' staff (Session 2).
