Climate change is affecting livelihoods in most parts of the world already. In developing countries, and in particular for the most vulnerable population groups, climate change is undermining the progress towards better livelihoods. Adaptation to climate change is therefore becoming a vital necessity and needs to be addressed at all levels and throughout all sectors. The EU has funded an important number of projects and other actions supporting developing countries in their efforts to adapt to climate change. This has been done through - Different funding sources (thematic or geographic), - Different implementing partners (multilateral agencies, government and official bodies, research institutes, international and local NGOs), - At different levels (from regional to national to local), - And using different implementation modalities (budget support, sector approaches, project approach). The objective of this assignment was to contribute to enhancing the effectiveness and impact of EU action in support to adaptation to climate change in developing countries, in particular the most vulnerable to climate change.
