Eastern Africa Power Pool (EAPP) is headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and has been adopted by Heads of State and Government at the 11th Summit of COMESA in Djibouti in November, 2006 as a specialized institution of COMESA for electrical power for Eastern Africa. The overall objective is to facilitate regional integration and hence to realize sustainable growth and development. The specific objective of this contract is to strengthen the capacity of the EAPP Organisation in system planning, power trade, environmental and grid operation management. • Managing and operating electricity trading floors in order to support an economic efficient interconnected system; • Coordination and monitoring of network extension and interconnection projects; • Planning and modelling the interconnected electricity system; • Operations of the interconnected network (efficient management practices of the interconnected grid, system operations, safety and reliability of the interconnected grid), improved balancing and improved quality of power supply; • Developing environmental management plans, assessing social impacts and resettlement management plan and designing and monitoring environmental management systems (Environment Subcommittee).
