This project, to support the implementation of energy performance standards and labelling programme in Benin, is part of a global approach, led by the MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation) and the Government of Benin, promoting the sustainable economic growth through poverty reduction, through Compact Agreements. This project is one of the elements of the Reform of Policies and Institution Building, towards the improvement of energy efficiency, through the rational use of energy. Its purpose is to reduce energy poverty and improve access to energy, promoting its proper use through the reduction of its waste. The main objective is to provide the necessary support to the various stakeholders in Benin for the effective implementation of minimum energy performance standards and the energy labelling system for lamps, air conditioners and refrigerators. These standards will require certain energy characteristics to appear on these products and equipment in order to comply with defined minimum energy performance thresholds.
