All EAC Partner States are committed to facilitate the increased use of various types of renewable energy as important sources and are planning to establish East African Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EACREEE) to coordinate efforts at regional level. Against this backdrop, the GGGI Green Growth Planning & Implementation (GGP&I) Division launched a Scoping Project on Renewable Energy Potential for Green Growth in the East African Community (EAC). Specifically, the project will: - Provide input to the planned EACREEE and support a renewable energy master plan that will fit into the regional master plan; - Support the EAC Partner States to review and develop forward looking renewable energy policies from the green growth perspective through providing a reliable analysis on the potential of renewable energy to contribute to green growth in the EAC; - Develop green growth plan in renewable energy sector and propose an implementation plan, which will address key barriers and identify options and sources for investment in the EAC
