In 2009, the AFD provided a 40-million credit line to four Mauritian banks in order to finance environemental, EE and RE projects in Mauritius. It appeared that only few sub-sectors were really concerned due to the constraints met in Mauritius to implement EE projects. In this context, the AFD was determined to continue its support for demand-side management projects. The AFD intended to finance targeted projects to overcome these contraints and to think about the conditions of an additional credit line. The AFD therefore required support to: - Identify precisely the nature of these constraints which limit the implementation of EE projects in industrial and tertiary sectors (operation or investment), and; - Identify the potential for energy saving which might be reached in the industrial and tertiary sectors.
