In 2010, a study was carried out to identify one project enabling to promote solar energy in Burkina Faso. The conclusions recomended to build a 22-MW PV power plant near Ouagadougou at Zagtouli. A first tender dossier was drafted for this project which will be funded by EIB and AFD loans and an EU grant. In 2012, the EU delegation chose AETS to assist SONABEL to pursue the preparation of this project which includes the upgrade of the feasibility study (technical and economic study including network study) as well as the tender procedure. After this first stage related to the feasibility study, it was decided to increase the power plant capacity to 33 MW. Then the tender dossier was prepared accordingly. In this framework, AETS carried out the following tasks : • Preparation of required documents to continue the project preparation and to launch the tender; • Assistance to SONABEL to recruit the turnkey contractor in charge of the construction of the PV power plant; • Assistance to SONABEL to recruit the consulting engineer in charge of the supervision of the construction of the PV power plant.
